The referee ignored FC Schunck's protests and gave Kauan Ceresso a yellow card for diving instead. Kauan Ceresso hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Rui Ferraz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arthur Tinoco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Schunck's Rui Ferraz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arthur Tinoco in the 29th minute of play. Kauan Ceresso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Magno Proença having to interfere. If Marco Arantes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th match minute, FC Schunck was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fábio Moreira to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Coastal City S.A.'s zone, Kauan Ceresso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Magno Proença came out of the goal and Kauan Ceresso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marco Arantes's late challenge caught a FC Schunck's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marco Arantes helped the player get up and apologised. Marco Arantes hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. When Aníbal Varela came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Coastal City S.A. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aníbal Varela couldn't finish the play. The supporters of FC Schunck booed when Coastal City S.A. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute, Kauan Ceresso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Coastal City S.A.'s Aníbal Varela got a free kick in the 75th minute. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Coastal City S.A. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
