Spectators: 7257 (Terracing: 5444, Seating: 1669, VIP seats: 144) America Star's Zézinho Campidelis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save America Star from getting a goal against them. Arnaldo Borges charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arnaldo Borges the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Fábio de Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the America Star fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fábio de Carvalho couldn't finish the play. Zézinho Campidelis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson Bertassi in the 26th minute of play. Alexsandro Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gugu Rossi, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Nilson Bertassi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zézinho Campidelis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. After 39 played minutes Marinopolis got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Bertassi. In the 47th match minute, Marinopolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rogério Siqueira to maneuver through the defense. The Marinopolis players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. America Star were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Perivaldo Proença to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match Hugo Valladares shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zézinho Campidelis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Perivaldo Proença received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Alexsandro Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the America Star defense, Rogério Siqueira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zézinho Campidelis. The America Star fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zézinho Campidelis should have stopped the shot. Rogério Siqueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zézinho Campidelis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson Bertassi in the 68th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as America Star's Perivaldo Proença slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alexsandro Massa. That made the score 1-2 after 70 minutes of play. Rogério Siqueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eliseu Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Zézinho Campidelis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rogério Siqueira took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zézinho Campidelis. Zézinho Campidelis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. 83 minutes into the game, Rogério Siqueira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Zézinho Campidelis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to America Star getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Gugu Rossi hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Nilson Bertassi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zézinho Campidelis was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. If Eliseu Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. America Star's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
