When Marco Arantes fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coastal City S.A.'s protests and gave Marco Arantes a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 played minutes Coastal City S.A. got a freekick which was hit by Marco Arantes. Aníbal Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Doni Barral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Umberto de Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 12 minutes of play, Coastal City S.A.'s Aníbal Varela made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Doni Barral was left in no man's land by his defense there! Arthur Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doni Barral having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Coastal City S.A.'s Aníbal Varela slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Doni Barral. That made the score 2-0 after 22 minutes of play. O Pudim's Doni Barral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aníbal Varela in the 30th minute of play. Aníbal Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Doni Barral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alexsandro Paraibano lost his temper 34 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Coastal City S.A. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 34th minute. Penalty! Magno Proença took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Umberto de Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute O Pudim were awarded a corner. Zézinho de Medeiros went to the cornerflag to take it. A very nice done corner allowed Edvaldo Braga to score against Magno Proença in Coastal City S.A.'s goal. 2-2 after 46 minutes. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arthur Tinoco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Doni Barral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arthur Tinoco in the 58th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Coastal City S.A.'s goal looked a bit too open when Ediberto Vianna came free, but Magno Proença reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Coastal City S.A.'s Arthur Tinoco got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arthur Tinoco in the 68th minute of play forced O Pudim's goalkeeper Doni Barral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto de Mendonça in the 81st minute of play forced Coastal City S.A.'s goalkeeper Magno Proença to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute Arthur Tinoco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doni Barral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The O Pudim supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing O Pudim would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
