The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Valdir Arce didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gilson Baiano went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Thomás Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cido Paraíba took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valdir Arce. Valdir Arce dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. If Cido Paraíba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute, Thomás Brodel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cido Paraíba in the 24th minute of play forced Quintino FC's goalkeeper Valdir Arce to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gilson Baiano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valdir Arce having to make a save. If Thomás Brodel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adriano Koehler stood somewhat misplaced when Thomás Brodel came free in front of goal and shot 1-2 to the left of him in the 31 minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilson Baiano in the 35th minute of play forced Quintino FC's goalkeeper Valdir Arce to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hernani Munhoz hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. 42 minutes into the game, Betinho Paiva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Macedo Futebol e Regatas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quintino FC the free kick. The supporters of Quintino FC booed when Macedo Futebol e Regatas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betinho Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Betinho Passos came free with the goalkeeper in the 47th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Adriano Koehler could save by the left post. After the first half Macedo Futebol e Regatas were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Macedo Futebol e Regatas's Adriano Koehler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thomás Brodel in the 51st minute of play. Hernani Munhoz hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cido Paraíba got free with Valdir Arce in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Quintino FC's Valdir Arce played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilson Baiano in the 65th minute of play. Cido Paraíba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Valdir Arce tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 71 minutes, Gilson Baiano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Macedo Futebol e Regatas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilson Baiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 86thth minute of the game Thomás Brodel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Macedo Futebol e Regatas's Adriano Koehler was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
