Birigué fc's Raul Bitxintxo got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 4 minutes into the match, Caratacá E.C's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Fernando Salgado came free, but Marcelo Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 5th minute, Ricardo Mello left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caratacá E.C fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 9th minute, Ricardo Mello fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After 14 played minutes Caratacá E.C got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Breckenfeld. Alfredinho Amaral made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Ricardo Mello sent off a good shot on target. The Birigué fc fans' excitement grew in the 22nd match minute when Birigué fc's Raul Bitxintxo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ricardo Mello charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ricardo Mello the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ricardo Mello hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. If Raul Bitxintxo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Birigué fc's André Fernandez got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Caratacá E.C's Marcelo Branco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fermin Havier in the 37th minute of play. Raul Bitxintxo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Abel Aparecido kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Birigué fc were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after Caratacá E.C's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Carlos Fernando Salgado took the corner. Birigué fc's Carlos Fernando Salgado was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Marcelo Branco in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 51st minute André Fernandez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Branco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredinho Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo Mello in the 53rd minute of the match. Raul Bitxintxo might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcelo Branco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raul Bitxintxo ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Caratacá E.C getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Tomás Baptista hit a great ball. Alfredinho Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Mello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abel Aparecido kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Alfredinho Amaral came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Caratacá E.C's Murillo de Barros. But to his dismay, Murillo de Barros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After a rather tough play, Birigué fc's Serafim Coelho got a free kick in the 73rd minute. 78 minutes into the match, Raul Bitxintxo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Marcelo Branco, 2-2. In the 81st minute, Birigué fc's Raul Bitxintxo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marcelo Branco. Marcelo Branco yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Mello in the 89th minute of play forced Birigué fc's goalkeeper Alfredinho Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Birigué fc's zone, Murillo de Barros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfredinho Amaral came out of the goal and Murillo de Barros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Birigué fc's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
