The supporters of FC Vila Naticos booed when Esperança was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Víktor Favoretto didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeremias Mazza got free with Edgar Vander in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th minute, Esperança's Walmyr França ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edgar Vander. Edgar Vander yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Kaká Paraibano's late challenge caught a FC Vila Naticos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kaká Paraibano helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd match minute, Esperança was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kaká Paraibano to maneuver through the defense. Delfim Velasco hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Luciano Koehler blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edgar Vander having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walmyr França in the 37th minute of play forced FC Vila Naticos's goalkeeper Edgar Vander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benjamin Tande received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Wellington de Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wellington de Sousa came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by FC Vila Naticos's Enrique Gaúcho. But to his dismay, Enrique Gaúcho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

If Walmyr França had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benjamin Tande fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington de Sousa having to interfere. Wellington de Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Gaúcho, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Edgar Vander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeremias Mazza in the 72nd minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 75th minute by Benjamin Tande got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Wellington de Sousa stood somewhat misplaced when Enrique Gaúcho came free in front of goal and shot 2-2 to the left of him in the 76 minute. The audience was convinced that Enrique Gaúcho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wellington de Sousa was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Walmyr França struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Edgar Vander didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esperança. Benjamin Tande's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wellington de Sousa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Enrique Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington de Sousa having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Benjamin Tande got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
