The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Demetrio Cucci received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Waldir Sá tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Cruz de Malta F.C defense, Geovanni Siqueira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rafa Trancoso. The Cruz de Malta F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rafa Trancoso should have stopped the shot. Rafa Trancoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geovanni Siqueira's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. Isaltino Ortiz's late challenge caught a Cruz de Malta F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isaltino Ortiz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Cruz de Malta F.C booed when Sambaqui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaltino Ortiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafa Trancoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lúcio Gomes in the 19th minute of play. After some careless play in the Cruz de Malta F.C defense, Geovanni Siqueira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rafa Trancoso. The Cruz de Malta F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rafa Trancoso should have stopped the shot. Geovanni Siqueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafa Trancoso having to interfere. Rafa Trancoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovanni Siqueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 26 minutes of play Sambaqui's Isaltino Ortiz was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 27 played minutes Sambaqui got a freekick which was hit by Isaltino Ortiz. Baltazar Recife sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Lúcio Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Demetrio Cucci recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 40 minutes, Demetrio Cucci managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cruz de Malta F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Demetrio Cucci was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 41st minute, Demetrio Cucci got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sambaqui's zone, Baltazar Recife stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldir Sá came out of the goal and Baltazar Recife tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lúcio Gomes was the one to do the kick off. If Lúcio Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geovanni Siqueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 58 minutes of play, Sambaqui's Lúcio Gomes made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rafa Trancoso was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rafa Trancoso made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Lúcio Gomes sent off a good shot on target. If Geovanni Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Willian Cavalcante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Rafa Trancoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 76th minute of the match, Lúcio Gomes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rafa Trancoso was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A collision led to Cruz de Malta F.C getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Baltazar Recife hit a great ball. In the 81st minute, Lúcio Gomes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafa Trancoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Demetrio Cucci fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Sá having to interfere.
