Resende F.C's César Rezende played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rony Sousa in the 3rd minute of play. Arlindo Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nando Bastos having to interfere. After 21 played minutes, Resende F.C's Jaime Guimarães shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nando Bastos came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Resende F.C reached it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudinho Matos in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck César Rezende prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 31 minutes into the game, Claudinho Matos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of César Rezende. Claudinho Matos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Rony Sousa hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Nando Bastos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arlindo Cavalcante in the 36th minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Resende F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinho Matos came free, but César Rezende reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute, Pontinha EC's Claudinho Matos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind César Rezende. César Rezende yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Claudinho Matos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinho Matos in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg César Rezende saved Resende F.C from getting behind. After 52 played minutes Resende F.C got a freekick which was hit by Caio Netto. 53 minutes into the game, João Carlos de Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Resende F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pontinha EC the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. One of Resende F.C:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pontinha EC:s goal. César Vasconcelos shot the penalty kick right outside the post. César Rezende made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Matos in the 56th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Pontinha EC's Armando Montenegro got a free kick in the 58th minute. In the 66th minute, Resende F.C's Arlindo Cavalcante dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vicente Mendonça in the 71st minute of play forced Resende F.C's goalkeeper César Rezende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pontinha EC's Vicente Mendonça got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Resende F.C's Arlindo Cavalcante got a free kick in the 78th minute. A collision led to Resende F.C getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Caio Netto hit a great ball. Vicente Mendonça recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. César Rezende took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudinho Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vicente Mendonça in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg César Rezende saved Resende F.C from getting behind. Vicente Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. César Rezende didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jorge Vidal went, in the 100th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Pontinha EC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
