They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Bendix Behnert put it in 1-7 from a short distance just to the right of Alfredo da Fonseca. When Ricardinho Falcão came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Ponte Preta TS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardinho Falcão couldn't finish the play. Teobaldo Sayveon scored 1-8 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alfredo da Fonseca, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
