Renan Velasco's late challenge caught a Farol EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Ponte Preta TS's zone, Manoel Ribeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ponte Preta TS's Alfredo da Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dalmo Paranaense in the 31st minute of play. When Luisinho Leal fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Farol EC's protests and gave Luisinho Leal a yellow card for diving instead. Ponte Preta TS's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Emílio Senna in the 35th minute. A nice corner shot did that Emílio Senna got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Erasmo Paranaense quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With 38 minutes on the clock, Juninho Siqueira commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 37 minutes into the game, one of Ponte Preta TS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Manoel Ribeiro shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 47th match minute, Ponte Preta TS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roberto Lara to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. After 57 minutes, Guga Borges mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ponte Preta TS and the Farol EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 57th match minute, Ponte Preta TS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guga Borges to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dalmo Paranaense in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfredo da Fonseca prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Farol EC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
