Clemente de Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Emerson de Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Alfredo da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Ponte Preta TS's goal looked a bit too open when Emerson de Brito came free, but Alfredo da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But to his dismay, Kléberson Terra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Roberto Lara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Ponte Preta TS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edvaldo Botelho to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Edgar Zonta got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emerson de Brito in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfredo da Fonseca prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Vila Pindense's zone, Ricardinho Falcão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cléber Linhares came out of the goal and Ricardinho Falcão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ricardinho Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Cléber Linhares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emerson de Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Edgar Zonta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alfredo da Fonseca having to make a save. Ricardinho Falcão might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cléber Linhares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ricardinho Falcão ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ponte Preta TS fans cheered their team off the field, for while Vila Pindense had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
