In the 7th minute, Dagoberto Maciel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paulas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Abelardo dos Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. The referee ignored Paulas's protests and gave Valdir Brito a yellow card for diving instead. After 36 played minutes Paulas got a freekick which was hit by Valdir Brito. Yan Leme's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 39thth minute, Natanael Rosado skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abelardo dos Santos in the 43rd minute of play forced Paulas's goalkeeper Natanael Rosado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Cochinho booed when Paulas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Aparecido didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Paulas's Geraldo Moura got a free kick in the 46th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The coaching staff of Paulas protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Osvaldinho Domingues had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 87th minute there was a penalty for Cochinho. Hélder Gonçalves stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Natanael Rosado. 2-2. Abelardo dos Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cochinho's Yan Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Paulas's zone, Abelardo dos Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Natanael Rosado came out of the goal and Abelardo dos Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
