Romário de Moraes stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Edu Dracena. 0-1. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Oliveira Castro's goalkeeper João Carlos Veiga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Oliveira Castro booed when Black Rovers FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horácio Matorin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th match minute, Oliveira Castro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldinho Velloso to maneuver through the defense. After 46 played minutes Oliveira Castro got a freekick which was hit by Romário de Moraes. Duda Fernandez took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 47th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for João Carlos Veiga. Oliveira Castro's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Valdir Pires made a kick off. Pedro Luís Britto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edu Dracena read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. A hard shot 66 in the game by Pedro Luís Britto from a close distance when the talented Edu Dracena managed to make a qualified save. Black Rovers FC's players were relieved. Valdir Pires's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edu Dracena read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. A collision led to Oliveira Castro getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Virgílio Toscano hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Horácio Matorin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Rovers FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Horácio Matorin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Carlos Veiga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Juan Sena hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. In the 74th minute of the match Duda Fernandez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but João Carlos Veiga showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Black Rovers FC's Edu Dracena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdir Pires in the 86th minute of play. After having played for 87 minutes, Pedro Luís Britto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oliveira Castro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Luís Britto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luiz Paulo Ramos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. João Carlos Veiga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Luís Britto took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edu Dracena. Edu Dracena dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Oliveira Castro walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
