After having played for 10 minutes, Pedro Luís Britto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oliveira Castro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Luís Britto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 11th minute Tales Sarmento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Veiga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Oliveira Castro getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Pedro Luís Britto hit a great ball. The supporters of Clube Atlético Piracicaba booed when Oliveira Castro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldinho Velloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Fernandinho Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 20 minutes into the match, Oliveira Castro's goal looked a bit too open when Fernandinho Montenegro came free, but João Carlos Veiga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Clube Atlético Piracicaba's attentive Marcus Melo managed to snatch the ball when Romário de Moraes made a throw-in in the 27th minute of the game. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Oliveira Castro's goalkeeper João Carlos Veiga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Carlos Fernando Bittencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 38 played minutes Clube Atlético Piracicaba got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Fernando Bittencourt. Osvaldinho Velloso made in the 41st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Valdir Pires however managed to control. 42 minutes into the game, Diamantino Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oliveira Castro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube Atlético Piracicaba the free kick. In the 43rd minute, Diamantino Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th match minute, Oliveira Castro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgílio Toscano to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th minute, Afonsinho Tavares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fernandinho Montenegro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Clube Atlético Piracicaba's attentive Hílton Ferreira managed to snatch the ball when Osvaldinho Velloso made a throw-in in the 51st minute of the game. João Carlos Veiga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fernandinho Montenegro's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. After having played for 54 minutes, Tales Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube Atlético Piracicaba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tales Sarmento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonsinho Tavares hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Fernandinho Montenegro took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Carlos Veiga. João Carlos Veiga was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. João Carlos Veiga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernandinho Montenegro in the 70th minute of the match. In the 71stth minute of the game Fernandinho Montenegro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oliveira Castro's João Carlos Veiga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. João Carlos Veiga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernandinho Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After having played for 80 minutes, Carlos Fernando Bittencourt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oliveira Castro's João Carlos Veiga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tales Sarmento in the 87th minute of play. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Fernandinho Montenegro sped through Oliveira Castro's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of João Carlos Veiga. After having played for 94 minutes, Fernandinho Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
