Virgílio Lopez made in the 6th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Jary's Efim Onegin. A collision led to Real Clube Celta getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Carlos Alberto Quintal hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vicente Guedes in the 9th minute of play forced Jary's goalkeeper Nando Pontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Cris Burgos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jary's supporters rose to their feet, but Cris Burgos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Barros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Cris Burgos came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Jary fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cris Burgos couldn't finish the play. After 23 minutes, Efim Onegin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jary and the Real Clube Celta players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cris Burgos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 28 minutes into the match, Efim Onegin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Barros. Real Clube Celta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Efim Onegin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Nando Pontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vicente Guedes in the 32nd minute of play. José Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cris Burgos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Real Clube Celta's José Barros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Real Clube Celta from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Real Clube Celta's zone, Göktuğ Sözer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Barros came out of the goal and Göktuğ Sözer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cris Burgos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nando Pontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Guedes, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. José Barros didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Efim Onegin went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cris Burgos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Cris Burgos made a precise shot to the right of José Barros. Real Clube Celta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Virgílio Lopez made in the 61st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Nando Lira. 64 minutes into the game, Jary's Cris Burgos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Barros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Cris Burgos might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over José Barros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cris Burgos ran back to his position shaking his head. 72 minutes into the match, Efim Onegin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Barros. Real Clube Celta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Efim Onegin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jarbas do Valle got free with Nando Pontes in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. José Pedro Félix received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. José Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cris Burgos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nando Pontes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jarbas do Valle in the 84th minute. Vicente Guedes was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 85th minute. Real Clube Celta's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 87 minutes into the game, Cris Burgos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. José Barros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Cris Burgos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Jary fully deserved thier win.
