But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ismael Hermes couldn't finish the play. José Carlos Godoi made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Afonsinho Albuquerque sent off a good shot on target. Fred Neiva charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Aníbal Pinheiro was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 19 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Joaninha FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 18th minute. Penalty! In the 20th minute there was a penalty for Estudiantes da Serra. Carlos Alberto Sousa stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving José Carlos Godoi. 2-0. In the 23rd minute, Patrick Lopes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Carlos Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ismael Hermes in the 26th minute of play. If Patrick Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 40 played minutes Joaninha FC got a freekick which was hit by Fred Neiva. Estudiantes da Serra's Angelo Pimenta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredinho Neto in the 45th minute of play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfredinho Neto to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Joaninha FC's zone, Afonsinho Albuquerque stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Carlos Godoi came out of the goal and Afonsinho Albuquerque tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Leonel Félix fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Joaninha FC's protests and gave Leonel Félix a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Joaninha FC getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the game, Armandinho Meirelles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Estudiantes da Serra's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Joaninha FC the free kick. Armandinho Meirelles hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. In the 87th minute, Afonsinho Albuquerque made a precise shot to the right of José Carlos Godoi. Joaninha FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. José Carlos Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ismael Hermes in the 91st minute of the match. Ismael Hermes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Estudiantes da Serra's Angelo Pimenta got control of the ball when Alfredinho Neto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Estudiantes da Serra's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
