EX - XITA FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Queimacao the free kick. The supporters of Queimacao booed when EX - XITA FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cássio Luz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 9 minutes into the match, EX - XITA FC's goalkeeper Claudinei Linares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Enrique Azevedo. Albertinho Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Claudinei Linares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walmyr Mendonça hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Antônio Passos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Albertinho Pires came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Queimacao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albertinho Pires couldn't finish the play. 38 minutes into the match, EX - XITA FC's Perivaldo da Costa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mazinho Félix narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Walmyr Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Queimacao getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Albertinho Pires hit a great ball. Queimacao's Hamílton Vaz got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hamílton Vaz to strike the kick off in the second half. Claudinei Linares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antônio Passos's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. In the 65th match minute, EX - XITA FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Perivaldo da Costa to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 76 minutes, Antônio Passos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Queimacao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antônio Passos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Walmyr Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 92 minutes into the match, EX - XITA FC's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Passos came free, but Claudinei Linares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Albertinho Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Queimacao had played much better football throughout.
