After having played for 9 minutes, Fábio Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Margaride's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fábio Figueiredo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Augusto Bastos struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Aírton Ferraz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Margaride. Tiago Paraense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Adalberto Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Margaride's zone, Tiago Paraense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adalberto Marquez came out of the goal and Tiago Paraense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aírton Ferraz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fábio Figueiredo in the 22nd minute of play. Tiago Paraense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in Margaride fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 25th minute. Penalty! Adalberto Marquez had in the 27thth minute some difficulties stopping Osvaldinho Lopes's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Adalberto Marquez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Osvaldinho Lopes went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the CHELSEA defense, Pedro Augusto Bastos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aírton Ferraz. The CHELSEA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aírton Ferraz should have stopped the shot. Aírton Ferraz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fábio Figueiredo, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute.
