Mangunca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ciro Prestes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benedito Severo hit a great ball. Richard Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enio Abreu having to interfere. Richard Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Célio Santos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bruninho Vasconcelos went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Célio Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciro Prestes in the 32nd minute of the match. Célio Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciro Prestes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 37 minutes into the game, Ciro Prestes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Célio Santos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 47th minute, Eurico Tavares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Richard Freire to make the kick off. Benedito Severo was shown his second yellow card after 52 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 53 played minutes Borba got a freekick which was hit by Benedito Severo. Ciro Prestes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Célio Santos having to make a save. If Bruninho Vasconcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Célio Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Prestes, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Célio Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciro Prestes in the 59th minute of play. After 62 minutes, Arthur Pimenta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mangunca and the Borba players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruninho Vasconcelos got free with Célio Santos in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle sounded Mangunca left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Borba.
