Eugênio Barros scored 0-1 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rogério Trevisan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nestor Saraiva hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Flavinho Zanette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Don Peponi FC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Nestor Saraiva hit a great ball. Alex do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clóvis de Queirós having to interfere. A collision led to Sapeca Esportiv.Palmeiras getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Lucas Ramos hit a great ball. Benjamin Carioca took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rogério Trevisan. Rogério Trevisan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 25th minute, Alex do Nascimento fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Clóvis de Queirós, passed just outside the right post. Nestor Saraiva hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Clóvis de Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After a rather tough play, Sapeca Esportiv.Palmeiras's Lucas Ramos got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sapeca Esportiv.Palmeiras's zone, Eugênio Barros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rogério Trevisan came out of the goal and Eugênio Barros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 37th minute Benjamin Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogério Trevisan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Alex do Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Sapeca Esportiv.Palmeiras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alex do Nascimento couldn't finish the play. After the first half Don Peponi FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Benjamin Carioca to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Flavinho Zanette got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Sapeca Esportiv.Palmeiras booed when Don Peponi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nestor Saraiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alex do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Noel Novaes during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. During the 71st minute of the match Nestor Saraiva completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nestor Saraiva a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavinho Zanette in the 81st minute of play forced Don Peponi FC's goalkeeper Clóvis de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clóvis de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex do Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Flavinho Zanette left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Clóvis de Queirós stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alex do Nascimento's shot from short distance in the 97th minute.
