River Guaíba's goal looked a bit too open when João Vítor Passos came free, but Délio Baptista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute João Vítor Passos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Délio Baptista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th match minute, C.A. River Guaíba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emerson Capixaba to maneuver through the defense. 18 minutes into the match, João Vítor Passos notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of C.A. River Guaíba's Délio Baptista. Délio Baptista was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. River Guaíba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emerson Capixaba didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kauã Saldanha charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kauã Saldanha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Délio Baptista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lino Abraão in the 36th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. River Guaíba's zone, João Vítor Passos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Délio Baptista came out of the goal and João Vítor Passos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emerson Capixaba kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. In the 42nd minute Luiz Fernando de Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serginho Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dedê Corrêa got free with Serginho Reis in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After 51 minutes, Doni de Moraes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Royal Anderlecht and the C.A. River Guaíba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lino Abraão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Délio Baptista having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Lino Abraão's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Délio Baptista was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Délio Baptista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lino Abraão in the 66th minute of the match. Maicon Guerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lino Abraão in the 77th minute of play forced C.A. River Guaíba's goalkeeper Délio Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Vítor Schmidt might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Délio Baptista. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. João Vítor Schmidt ran back to his position shaking his head. Lino Abraão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Royal Anderlecht's Serginho Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedê Corrêa in the 87th minute of play. Dedê Corrêa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to C.A. River Guaíba getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Enéas Dantas hit a great ball. In the 96th minute, Kauã Saldanha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Royal Anderlecht players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
