In the 13th minute, Eugênio Barros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 17 minutes into the match, Eugênio Barros notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Borba's Célio Santos. Célio Santos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience was convinced that Richard Freire's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Clóvis de Queirós was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Eugênio Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Santos having to interfere. The supporters of Don Peponi FC booed when Borba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eurico Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Célio Santos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eugênio Barros went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Clóvis de Queirós was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Richard Freire showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-3 in the 54 minute of play. Célio Santos had in the 59thth minute some difficulties stopping Álvaro Mattos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.
