In the 10th match minute, EXCELSIOR FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mané Figueiredo to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute of the match Iratinga AD got a corner. EXCELSIOR FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Wilton Linhares ran over to the corner to take the kick. Kléberson Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Luz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Toninho Macedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vitório Falcão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roberto Linhares having to interfere. Délio Gaúcho struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Kléberson Jacinto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iratinga AD.

Mané Figueiredo's late challenge caught a Iratinga AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mané Figueiredo helped the player get up and apologised. Délio Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. EXCELSIOR FC's Kléberson Jacinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Luz in the 70th minute of play. If Délio Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
