Vastar FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dito Faria was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dito Faria could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Artur Salgado made a huge save. The supporters of Vastar FC booed when APCV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vinícius Pitta didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Jeferson Carneiro came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Vastar FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeferson Carneiro couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Vastar FC defense, Otávio Bastos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Renatinho Carvalho. The Vastar FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Renatinho Carvalho should have stopped the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Paulo Baiano to strike the kick off in the second half. Artur Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dito Faria in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 74th match minute, Vastar FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilton Teixeira to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in APCV's zone, Dito Faria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artur Salgado came out of the goal and Dito Faria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
