Emílio da Rocha hit a great ball. With a little luck, São Paulo FC's Cícero Carvalho got control of the ball when Bernardinho Amaral tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Bernardinho Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Bernardinho Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Cruz's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernardinho Amaral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cícero Carvalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bernardinho Amaral struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Cícero Carvalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Cruz. Rafa Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cícero Carvalho having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Emílio da Rocha to strike the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, São Paulo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Castro came free, but Cícero Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernardinho Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Cícero Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cícero Carvalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 93rd minute, Osvaldo Hames got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Real Cruz walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
