Real Cruz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardinho Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hílton Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardinho Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 17th match minute, Real Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafa Paraibano to maneuver through the defense. 18 minutes into the match, Real Cruz's goal looked a bit too open when Waldir Cavalcante came free, but Fabiano Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benedito Barros's late challenge caught a Real Cruz's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benedito Barros helped the player get up and apologised. After 20 played minutes Chapadao got a freekick which was hit by Benedito Barros. Rogério Lara, 21 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 22 minutes into the game, Wágner Mendonça was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chapadao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Real Cruz the free kick. In the 22nd minute, Wágner Mendonça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute, Juninho Castro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bernardinho Amaral took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hílton Recife. Hílton Recife dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After some careless play in the Chapadao defense, Bernardinho Amaral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hílton Recife. The Chapadao fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hílton Recife should have stopped the shot. 47 minutes into the match, Chapadao's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Castro came free, but Hílton Recife reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

After 53 minutes, Bernardinho Amaral made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Chapadao's Hílton Recife tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Hílton Recife took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juninho Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 59th minute, Alex Pena left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Real Cruz fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Fabiano Vieira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Guilherme Correia in the 63rd minute. Juninho Castro took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hílton Recife. Hílton Recife dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Hílton Recife showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juninho Castro in the 70th minute of the match. In the 81st match minute, Chapadao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelo Fernandes to maneuver through the defense. Bernardinho Amaral might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hílton Recife. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bernardinho Amaral ran back to his position shaking his head. Bernardinho Amaral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Bernardinho Amaral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hílton Recife was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Hílton Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardinho Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chapadao's goalkeeper Hílton Recife, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Juninho Castro came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Real Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juninho Castro couldn't finish the play.
