The referee ignored Eletro Power's protests and gave José Pedro Leite a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Eletro Power fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 29th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Compasso a penalty, 31 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Horácio da Silveira, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Eletro Power's Márcio de Sousa. 1-1. After 35 minutes, Jefferson Ribeiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eletro Power and the Compasso players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Compasso booed when Eletro Power was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jefferson Ribeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Compasso's Cícero Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eliseu dos Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Márcio de Sousa having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eliseu dos Santos to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Eliseu dos Santos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Márcio de Sousa. Compasso's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Eletro Power the free kick. Compasso's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
