Nilton da Rocha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arthur Fonseca having to make a save. Marcinho da Costa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 5th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Arthur Fonseca. Economia E.C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Vaggelis Kousouridis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oswaldo Alves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nilson Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 0-1 became the score in the 9th minute when Nilson Bittencourt elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Cacá Batista's late challenge caught a Economia E.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cacá Batista helped the player get up and apologised. After 12 played minutes GAMP FC got a freekick which was hit by Cacá Batista. GAMP FC's Vaggelis Kousouridis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oswaldo Alves in the 13th minute of play. Vaggelis Kousouridis made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Cido Nascimento sent off a good shot on target. After 19 minutes, Cido Nascimento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Economia E.C. and the GAMP FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 19 played minutes Economia E.C. got a freekick which was hit by Cido Nascimento. Nilson Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Arthur Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Noel Queirós fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Economia E.C.'s protests and gave Noel Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th match minute, Economia E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noel Queirós to maneuver through the defense. If Nilson Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nilson Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. With a little luck, GAMP FC's Vaggelis Kousouridis got control of the ball when Cido Nascimento tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of GAMP FC booed when Economia E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gualter Arce didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilton da Rocha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half GAMP FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nilson Bittencourt was the one to do the kick off. Nilson Bittencourt struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Arthur Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GAMP FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gualter Arce in the 55th minute of play forced GAMP FC's goalkeeper Vaggelis Kousouridis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 60 minutes of play GAMP FC's Cacá Batista was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 67 minutes into the game, Wellington Brodel threw the ball into play from the sideline. GAMP FC's Celso da Silva quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Nilton da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arthur Fonseca having to interfere. Arthur Fonseca was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Nilson Bittencourt capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nilson Bittencourt really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Marcinho da Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcinho da Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Marcinho da Costa hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. In the 80th minute, Tales da Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. GAMP FC's attentive Nilson Bittencourt managed to snatch the ball when Amadeu Couto made a throw-in in the 83rd minute of the game. If Nilson Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. William Vianna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Arthur Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vaggelis Kousouridis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswaldo Alves in the 89th minute of play. In the 92nd minute, Economia E.C.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after William Vianna fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Celso da Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. GAMP FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
