An unexpectedly hard shot by Olavo Moraes in the 27th minute of play forced Capitao de Campos futboll's goalkeeper Richard Matorin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Wilson Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Ortiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson Ortiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kléberson Coelho in the 30th minute of play. The supporters of Alpinino SS booed when Capitao de Campos futboll was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Paraibano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alpinino SS's supporters rose to their feet, but William Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Richard Matorin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laércio Guerra to make the kick off. Richard Matorin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Telmo Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Laércio Guerra in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Richard Matorin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alpinino SS's Guto Souto was substituted for Pedrinho Fontes. Olívio Velloso hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. If Telmo Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When William Brito came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Alpinino SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that William Brito couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Jefferson Dracena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alpinino SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Jefferson Dracena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
