Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Fábio Silva in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ruy Pinheiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Pitombeiras EC's zone, Denílson Dantas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emílio Queirós came out of the goal and Denílson Dantas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manoel Dracena in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emílio Queirós prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Emílio Queirós made an important save on a dangerous shot by Denílson Dantas in the 47th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Fábio Silva made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Pombas's Valdir Messias got a free kick in the 51st minute.
