After a defensive mix-up in Rio Preto F.C.'s zone, Serafim Dracena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Fábio Araújo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathan de Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Serafim Dracena's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Fábio Araújo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Hélder Marques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristóvão Bastos in the 22nd minute of play. Ademir Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Hélder Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute Cristóvão Bastos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélder Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute, Silas Romero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Cristóvão Bastos came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Rio Preto F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristóvão Bastos couldn't finish the play. In the 32nd match minute, SC Gramado was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Augusto Marques to maneuver through the defense. Hélder Marques didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ademir Montenegro went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cristóvão Bastos to strike the kick off in the second half. Ademir Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Hélder Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristóvão Bastos in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hélder Marques prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hélder Marques showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristóvão Bastos in the 56th minute of the match. In the 60th minute of the match Silas de Alcântara sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hélder Marques skillfully saved the ball. Luiz Fábio Araújo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafim Dracena in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th minute, Fernandinho Freire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Serafim Dracena might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Fábio Araújo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Serafim Dracena ran back to his position shaking his head. Luiz Fábio Araújo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serafim Dracena in the 72nd minute of the match. After taking down the ball on SC Gramado's corner Silas Romero fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Luiz Fábio Araújo quite easily take care of the ball. Ademir Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Hélder Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Augusto Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ademir Montenegro in the 94th minute of play forced SC Gramado's goalkeeper Hélder Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the SC Gramado players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Rio Preto F.C..
