The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, EC Salvador's Alan Oliveira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruy Pinheiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. EC Salvador's Caetano Porto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinho Bittencourt in the 7th minute of play. 9 minutes into the game, Válter de Godoi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EC Salvador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pombas the free kick. Válter de Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. With a little luck, Pombas's Ruy Pinheiro got control of the ball when Válter de Godoi tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Pombas getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Reinaldo Branco hit a great ball. 15 minutes into the game, EC Salvador's Alan Oliveira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruy Pinheiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Ruy Pinheiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Válter de Godoi in the 27th minute of play. After 29 played minutes EC Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Yan Meireles. Ruy Pinheiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dedê Mello in the 31st minute. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pombas's goalkeeper Ruy Pinheiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ruy Pinheiro was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Válter de Godoi showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 5-0 in the 41 minute of play. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pombas's goalkeeper Ruy Pinheiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manoel Dracena stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ruy Pinheiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Válter de Godoi went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. A hard shot by Sílvio Luiz Valladares from long distance, 56 minutes into the match, got Caetano Porto's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 59 minutes into the match, Alan Oliveira notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Pombas's Ruy Pinheiro. Ruy Pinheiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ruy Pinheiro came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by EC Salvador's Válter de Godoi. But to his dismay, Válter de Godoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. Alan Oliveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruy Pinheiro having to interfere. Orlando de Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Ruy Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Alan Oliveira came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the EC Salvador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alan Oliveira couldn't finish the play. In the 74th minute, Válter de Godoi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ruy Pinheiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-0. Alan Oliveira might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ruy Pinheiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alan Oliveira ran back to his position shaking his head. Ruy Pinheiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alan Oliveira went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 10-0 was the resulting score. Enrique Salgado kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. After 89th play minutes Alan Oliveira shot 11-0, a short shot which went by Ruy Pinheiro and just under the crossbar into goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alan Oliveira in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ruy Pinheiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. There was no doubt that EC Salvador were the better team. EC Salvador's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
