The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nildo Sampaio in the 4th minute of play forced Pitombeiras EC's goalkeeper Emílio Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Josué Koehler came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Pitombeiras EC's Fernando Lira. But to his dismay, Fernando Lira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 11th match minute, S.C SKZ GAB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Luiz Brasil to maneuver through the defense. Josué Koehler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fábio Silva in the 16th minute of play. Ian Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Josué Koehler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 24 played minutes Nildo Sampaio rounded Pitombeiras EC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. If Nildo Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute, Ian Varela ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Josué Koehler was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Luís Fábio Silva struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Josué Koehler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pitombeiras EC. Nildo Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Queirós having to interfere. Ian Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Josué Koehler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Luís Fábio Silva made the kick off in the second half. Nildo Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. In the 74th match minute, S.C SKZ GAB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiaguinho Bezerra to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Pitombeiras EC getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Elias Lira hit a great ball. Emílio Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nildo Sampaio in the 81st minute of the match. After 87 played minutes Pitombeiras EC got a freekick which was hit by Fernando Lira. After 88 played minutes, S.C SKZ GAB's Tiaguinho Bezerra shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Emílio Queirós came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in S.C SKZ GAB reached it. Pitombeiras EC's Emílio Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiago Reis in the 90th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Pitombeiras EC's Haroldo Arruda got a free kick in the 91st minute. After having played for 92 minutes, Nildo Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.C SKZ GAB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nildo Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of S.C SKZ GAB booed when Pitombeiras EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléber de Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see S.C SKZ GAB's Tiaguinho Bezerra in action when he in the 99th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance!
