The wind increased when Frédson Messias made the kick off in the second half. Pombas's Ruy Pinheiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frédson Messias in the 89th minute of play. Manoel Dracena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Luz having to interfere. In the 93rd match minute, Pombas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fernando Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. Frédson Messias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
