The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With 3 minutes on the clock, Amílton Porto commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 3 minutes into the game, one of Putinga:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Chico Lopez scored 0-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dinei Lira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. João Trevisan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Washington Xavier came free with the goalkeeper in the 17th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Evandro Pontes could save by the left post. Evandro Pontes was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and Washington Xavier capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Washington Xavier really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. 26 minutes into the game, Washington Xavier lined in a short shot 2-1 behind a frustrated Evandro Pontes. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ciro Veloso to make the kick off. The supporters of Putinga booed when Ribeirinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leandro Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Washington Xavier came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Putinga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Washington Xavier couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Veloso in the 80th minute of play forced Putinga's goalkeeper Dinei Lira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 81 minutes into the match, Putinga's goalkeeper Dinei Lira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chico Lopez. Washington Xavier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Evandro Pontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ribeirinha eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
