The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute, Pojuquinha SC's Davi da Rocha seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Davi da Rocha the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Pojuquinha SC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Davi da Rocha had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 8 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Pojuquinha SC! The referee gave Liverpool FC a penalty, 11 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Carlos Eduardo Castro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Pojuquinha SC's Fausto da Fonseca. 0-1. Fausto da Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manfredo Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Fausto da Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinaldo de Senna in the 32nd minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Pojuquinha SC's goal looked a bit too open when João Pedro Pombal came free, but Fausto da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Pojuquinha SC booed when Liverpool FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oséias Garcia didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lauro Salles showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tarcisio Fontes in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lauro Salles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Liverpool FC's zone, Gilson Simões stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lauro Salles came out of the goal and Gilson Simões tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 68th minute of the match Edmílson Soeiro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lauro Salles showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 70th minute, Caio Melo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Tarcisio Fontes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lauro Salles was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pojuquinha SC reached it. Liverpool FC played a much better game than Pojuquinha SC and deserved their victory. The Pojuquinha SC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
