In the 36th minute Samuca Peres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto da Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Soviet Attack getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Cipriano Ferraz hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Tarcisio Fontes took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Jano Cerezo to make any attempt to save it. 46 minutes into the game, Magno Teles cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Fausto da Fonseca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Pojuquinha SC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Soviet Attack were winning 2-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tarcisio Fontes was the one to do the kick off. When Samuca Peres fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Soviet Attack's protests and gave Samuca Peres a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Soviet Attack's Samuca Peres got a free kick in the 57th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Gilson Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pojuquinha SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilson Simões was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jano Cerezo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 60 minutes, Valdomiro Freitas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Soviet Attack and the Pojuquinha SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Valdomiro Freitas was shown his second yellow card after 96 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Soviet Attack's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
