After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Teodoro Mandrak managed to get in a good position for a shot. Orico's supporters rose to their feet, but Teodoro Mandrak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilton Sergipano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alexandre Cordeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elói Marinho in the 5th minute of play. When Joaquim Botelho came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Vila Rural EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Botelho couldn't finish the play. Elói Marinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sandrinho Capixaba charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandrinho Capixaba the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 20th minute, Sandrinho Capixaba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Giuseppe Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Elói Marinho came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Vila Rural EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elói Marinho couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Orico booed when Vila Rural EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zézinho Mello didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Giuseppe Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Giuseppe Furlan fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vila Rural EC's protests and gave Giuseppe Furlan a yellow card for diving instead. Giuseppe Furlan hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Wilton Sergipano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elói Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute Teodoro Mandrak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilton Sergipano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leopoldo Ferreira's late challenge caught a Orico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leopoldo Ferreira helped the player get up and apologised. Joaquim Botelho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 65thth minute, Alexandre Cordeiro skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Raí Dantas's late challenge caught a Vila Rural EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raí Dantas helped the player get up and apologised. Raí Dantas hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Joaquim Botelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Wilton Sergipano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Teodoro Mandrak's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. In the 71st minute, Teodoro Mandrak made a precise shot to the right of Wilton Sergipano. Vila Rural EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. If Elói Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexandre Cordeiro came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Vila Rural EC's Elói Marinho. But to his dismay, Elói Marinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Joaquim Botelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Alexandre Cordeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elói Marinho took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alexandre Cordeiro. Alexandre Cordeiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Vila Rural EC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
