If Rui Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui Gonçalves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Zé Paulo Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 28 played minutes, Vira Lata F.C.'s Noel de Alcântara shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Simão Sousa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Vira Lata F.C. reached it. Simão Vianna hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aloísio Pirani in the 33rd minute of play forced Demoregi SC's goalkeeper Simão Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rui Gonçalves's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 39thth minute, Zé Paulo Tinoco skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Simão Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Paulo Tinoco having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Simão Vianna made the kick off in the second half. Zé Paulo Tinoco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simão Vianna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vira Lata F.C.'s Zé Paulo Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sydney Bittencourt in the 61st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Demoregi SC's zone, Aloísio Pirani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Sousa came out of the goal and Aloísio Pirani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Aloísio Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 77th match minute, Demoregi SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sydney Bittencourt to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Aloísio Pirani got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Luizão Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vira Lata F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Luizão Perez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simão Sousa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 82 minutes, Luizão Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vira Lata F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Luizão Perez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Tadeu Barbosa fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Demoregi SC's protests and gave Tadeu Barbosa a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Demoregi SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 84th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Vira Lata F.C. a penalty, 86 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Pedro Luís Machado, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Demoregi SC's Simão Sousa. 0-1. In the 91st minute Simão Vianna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Paulo Tinoco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sydney Bittencourt kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match.
