But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edinho Galvão couldn't finish the play. 34 minutes into the match, BAYER LEVERKUSEN's Natanael de Andrade sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zé Roberto Donato narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Black Panther FC's Jorge Machado got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. BAYER LEVERKUSEN's Magno Soeiro managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Alexsandro Simões in the 43 minute of the game. After 45 minutes of play, Black Panther FC's Jorge Machado made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lenílson Azevedo was left in no man's land by his defense there!

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bruno Arce to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Black Panther FC's zone, Edinho Galvão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Roberto Donato came out of the goal and Edinho Galvão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Natanael de Andrade scored 1-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zé Roberto Donato, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpected shot in the 64th minute by Jânio Cordeiro got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Zé Roberto Donato made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edinho Galvão in the 67th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Jorge Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Panther FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorge Machado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lenílson Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jânio Cordeiro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 69thth minute tested the skills of Lenílson Azevedo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 77th minute, Giovani de Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 78 minutes into the match, BAYER LEVERKUSEN's goalkeeper Lenílson Azevedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruno Arce. If Natanael de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lenílson Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jorge Machado in the 84th minute. In the 95th minute Robinho Pinheiro suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. Alexsandro Simões's late challenge caught a BAYER LEVERKUSEN's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexsandro Simões helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of BAYER LEVERKUSEN booed when Black Panther FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexsandro Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
