After 17 minutes of play, Vila Rural EC's Joaquim Botelho made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedro Luiz Veloso was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dedé Abraão kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, Joaquim Botelho notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Abico's Pedro Luiz Veloso. Pedro Luiz Veloso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 25th match minute, Abico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Carlos Duarte to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Pedro Luiz Veloso managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Vila Rural EC's Elói Marinho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Wilton Sergipano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Pedro Peixoto, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. A collision led to Vila Rural EC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Leopoldo Ferreira hit a great ball. 34 minutes into the game, Zézinho Mello was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vila Rural EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abico the free kick.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joaquim Botelho was the one to do the kick off. Edvaldo Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Wilton Sergipano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elói Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 55th minute Elói Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Luiz Veloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilton Sergipano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edvaldo Toledo in the 57th minute of the match. Joaquim Botelho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Luiz Veloso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Joaquim Botelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joaquim Botelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Pedro Luiz Veloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elói Marinho in the 77th minute of play forced Abico's goalkeeper Pedro Luiz Veloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raí Urbano charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raí Urbano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 78th match minute, Abico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raí Urbano to maneuver through the defense. 82 minutes into the match, Abico's goal looked a bit too open when Joaquim Botelho came free, but Pedro Luiz Veloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Abico fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 91st minute. Penalty! In the 97th minute, Edvaldo Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There was no doubt that Vila Rural EC were the better team. Vila Rural EC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
