No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hernani Tande made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Joaquim Botelho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vila Rural EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Joaquim Botelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Danilo Hoffmann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Discípulos FC booed when Vila Rural EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giuseppe Furlan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 55th minute Elói Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danilo Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Elói Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Danilo Hoffmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquim Botelho in the 67th minute of the match. Benedito Recife fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilton Sergipano having to interfere. 72 minutes into the game, Fausto Mendes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Discípulos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vila Rural EC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Discípulos FC's Fausto Mendes got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Elói Marinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Hoffmann having to interfere. Danilo Hoffmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elói Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Danilo Hoffmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Botelho in the 87th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Vila Rural EC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Benedito Recife fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Elói Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
