But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorginho Veloso couldn't finish the play. When Rafael do Vale fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Trainspotting's protests and gave Rafael do Vale a yellow card for diving instead. After having played for 16 minutes, Róbson Freire managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Trainspotting's supporters crossed their fingers, but Róbson Freire was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Antônio Carlos Neves hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Jorginho Veloso struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Claudinei Mendes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Quatiguaba SC. In the 27th minute, Jorginho Veloso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Claudinei Mendes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 2-0 became the score in the 30th minute when Jorginho Veloso elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Claudinei Mendes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David do Valle, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. If Róbson Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Róbson Freire made a kick off. With a little luck, Quatiguaba SC's Luisão Campidelis got control of the ball when Zézinho Neves tried to sneak it across the goal line. Trainspotting's Claudinei Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorginho Veloso in the 55th minute of play. If Zézinho Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 59th minute, David do Valle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zézinho Neves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Luisão Campidelis made a huge save. Róbson Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Róbson Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Róbson Freire managed to get in a good position for a shot. Trainspotting's supporters rose to their feet, but Róbson Freire was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luisão Campidelis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Quatiguaba SC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Antônio Carlos Neves hit a great ball. Jorginho Veloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinei Mendes having to interfere. Claudinei Mendes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jorginho Veloso went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score.
