Dênis Barbosa made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Pedro das Neves sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Sangaia booed when Sapopema was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luciano Monteiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute of the match Rômulo Paiva sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulão Soares skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sapopema's zone, Toninho Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulão Soares came out of the goal and Toninho Gomes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 12 minutes into the match, Sangaia's Toninho Gomes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulão Soares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Paulão Soares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toninho Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After a rather tough play, Sapopema's Zé Prestes got a free kick in the 20th minute. 23 minutes into the match, Toninho Gomes notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Sapopema's Paulão Soares. Paulão Soares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 30 minutes into the match, Toninho Gomes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paulão Soares. Sapopema's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Toninho Gomes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Paulão Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toninho Gomes in the 39th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Toninho Gomes in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulão Soares saved Sapopema from getting behind. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Falcão Trevisan to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Rômulo Paiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Toninho Gomes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulão Soares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. After 63 played minutes Toninho Gomes rounded Sapopema's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Falcão Trevisan in the 67th minute of play forced Sangaia's goalkeeper Dênis Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 69 minutes, Sydney Breckenfeld made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. Sapopema's Paulão Soares tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Sydney Breckenfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sydney Breckenfeld's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 77thth minute, Paulão Soares skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 87 minutes into the game, Sangaia's Sydney Breckenfeld nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulão Soares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. After some careless play in the Sapopema defense, Sydney Breckenfeld kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulão Soares. The Sapopema fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulão Soares should have stopped the shot.
