Paulão Soares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 19th minute, Luizão Zonta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulão Soares was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Fausto Simões didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pedro das Neves went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. In the 30thth minute of the game Thiago Matos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sapopema's Paulão Soares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Bruno Paraíba fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canto do Rio's protests and gave Bruno Paraíba a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Canto do Rio getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Bruno Paraíba hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thiago Matos in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Paulão Soares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sapopema's Paulão Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Zonta in the 46th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thiago Matos in the 47th minute of play forced Sapopema's goalkeeper Paulão Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Thiago Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arí de Sena's late challenge caught a Canto do Rio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arí de Sena helped the player get up and apologised. Arí de Sena kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Thiago Matos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 66thth minute, Paulão Soares skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 73rd match minute, Sapopema was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Prestes to maneuver through the defense. After 74 minutes, Thiago Matos made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. Sapopema's Paulão Soares tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Jorge Campidelis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Canto do Rio's Nilton Bastos got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nelson Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nilton Bastos struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Paulão Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canto do Rio. Nilton Bastos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Paulão Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
