After having played for 3 minutes, Felippe Coelho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gremio FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felippe Coelho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 6 minutes into the match, Felippe Coelho notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Candeias Futebol Clube's Artur Azevedo. Artur Azevedo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Gremio FC's zone, Rafa Palmeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duda Toscano came out of the goal and Rafa Palmeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nestor Madureira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Artur Azevedo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. With a little luck, Candeias Futebol Clube's Artur Azevedo got control of the ball when Felippe Coelho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Artur Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Madureira in the 20th minute of play. Nestor Madureira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Artur Azevedo came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Gremio FC's Felippe Coelho. But to his dismay, Felippe Coelho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After some careless play in the Gremio FC defense, João Adolfo Paraíba kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Duda Toscano. The Gremio FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Duda Toscano should have stopped the shot. João Adolfo Paraíba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Gremio FC's zone, Rafa Palmeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duda Toscano came out of the goal and Rafa Palmeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. João Adolfo Paraíba took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Duda Toscano. Duda Toscano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2.

57 minutes into the match, Nestor Madureira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Artur Azevedo. Candeias Futebol Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nestor Madureira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. 63 minutes into the game, Candeias Futebol Clube's João Adolfo Paraíba nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Duda Toscano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. After a rather tough play, Gremio FC's Ricardinho Marquez got a free kick in the 70th minute. 75 minutes into the match, Candeias Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Madureira came free, but Artur Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Candeias Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Felippe Coelho came free, but Artur Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luís Paulo Reis's late challenge caught a Candeias Futebol Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Adolfo Paraíba couldn't finish the play. Despite being the better team, Candeias Futebol Clube failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
