An unexpectedly hard shot by Benjamin Luz in the 37th minute of play forced Canto do Rio's goalkeeper Fausto Simões to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute, Benjamin Luz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fausto Simões was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. When Jefferson Pontes came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Canto do Rio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jefferson Pontes couldn't finish the play. Bruno Paraíba succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-1 in the 42nd playminute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jefferson Pontes to strike the kick off in the second half. Sidnei Senna was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 76th minute, Luizão Zonta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 78 minutes, Jefferson Pontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canto do Rio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jefferson Pontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jefferson Pontes in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sidnei Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Bruno Paraíba managed to get in a good position for a shot. When the referee ended the match the Canto do Rio players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
