Thiago Matos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulão Soares having to make a save. Bruno Paraíba struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Paulão Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canto do Rio. If Thiago Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Luizão Zonta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Canto do Rio's supporters rose to their feet, but Luizão Zonta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulão Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 24 minutes, Thiago Matos made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Sapopema's Paulão Soares tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Falcão Trevisan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sapopema's Paulão Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thiago Matos in the 31st minute of play. Bruno Paraíba could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Paulão Soares made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Thiago Matos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulão Soares was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. After having played for 37 minutes, Thiago Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Sapopema fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulão Soares should have stopped the shot. If Bruno Paraíba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 64 minutes into the match, Thiago Matos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paulão Soares. Sapopema's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Thiago Matos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After a defensive mix-up in Sapopema's zone, Thiago Matos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulão Soares came out of the goal and Thiago Matos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulão Soares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Paraíba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sapopema's Paulão Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thiago Matos in the 71st minute of play. Paulão Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizão Zonta in the 74th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thiago Matos in the 78th minute of play forced Sapopema's goalkeeper Paulão Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 79 minutes, Nelson Mineiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canto do Rio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelson Mineiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 83 minutes into the match, Thiago Matos notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Sapopema's Paulão Soares. Paulão Soares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thiago Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulão Soares having to interfere. Canto do Rio's Thiago Matos got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Pedro das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Canto do Rio's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
