Chicão Capixaba was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Locomotives's Chicão Capixaba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júlio Martins in the 19th minute of play. Danilo Vergílio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luizão Maranhense in the 21st minute. If Luizão Maranhense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Locomotives's Francisco Brodel got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Francisco Brodel did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-1 to the left of a surprised Danilo Vergílio 33 minutes into the match. Locomotives's Chicão Capixaba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júlio Martins in the 41st minute of play. Danilo Vergílio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Brodel in the 42nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 48 minutes, Amauri Medeiros put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Chicão Capixaba. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Júlio Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chicão Capixaba having to interfere. 68 minutes into the match, LA RESERVE's Amauri Medeiros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Chicão Capixaba narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Danilo Vergílio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Brodel in the 70th minute of play. Chicão Capixaba went to the wrong direction when Waldemar Mota was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Júlio Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot. LA RESERVE's supporters rose to their feet, but Júlio Martins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chicão Capixaba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luizão Maranhense in the 83rd minute of play forced LA RESERVE's goalkeeper Danilo Vergílio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th minute Amauri Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chicão Capixaba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Danilo Vergílio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Brodel in the 92nd minute of play. Amauri Medeiros struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Chicão Capixaba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal.
