The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. David Lain showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gláuber Moura in the 5th minute of the match. Jefferson Lira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abel Amaral was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Nico Madureira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Bacue EC's Dalmo Leão got a free kick in the 64th minute. Jefferson Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Augusto Seco's late challenge caught a EC Bahia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 90th minute, Tião Brasil left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bacue EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 95 minutes into the match, EC Bahia's goal looked a bit too open when Gláuber Moura came free, but David Lain reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
